In the novel To Kill a Mockingbird racism is very evident throughout the whole book and causes many conflicts among the people within the town. Although it has been suppressed it has not ended. People today still discriminate African Americans over their skin color and that is wrong. With all the shootings of whites and blacks it is clear that it is a growing problem that needs to end. A lot of the commotion comes from the past, and although our history is important sometimes we need to remember that our country has changed since then. As a country we need to create peace with each other no matter who we are or what color our skin is. A way we can fix this problem is by focusing on the personality of others and not their skin color. We have to realize that there are problems among every race and not just blacks.

The racism in To Kill a Mockingbird is harsh and extremely unfair to the African Americans suffering from it. Many issues occur from racism throughout the book that comes to the conclusion of life or death. During Tom Robison’s trial, it is extremely biased favoring Ewell’s words even though the evidence concluded Robinson innocent. The main issue in To Kill a Mockingbird is that no matter what the situation is if it comes to a white or black man’s word; there is no actual “trial” for the white man’s notions will immediately be more valid than the African American’s. However, now the racism has changed and a white man’s intuition is now automatically assumed to be racism against an African American. Racism definitely continues to interfere with the daily lives of people but has changed by stereotyping a white man to be racist against a black man. However, it is now the other way around, which is allowing a black man to be the assumed victim of any case. At the moment I feel the only solution I can provide stay true to what I believe in and make conjectures solely based on a person’s character, not their race. I can make sure to allow myself to be educated about the problem from both sides to fully understand the difficult situation that we’re in.

The book To Kill a Mockingbird took place in a time where racism was especially common it was clear they had little respect for the African American people. Through the year’s racism has drastically decreased but it still exists with both black and white people. It now seems that the events from the past have led the black communities to be more sensitive towards the subject. They have even reached the point of harming police officers who were just trying to follow the law. Today we must learn from our history but not use it against people. We cannot judge people by the color of their skin but who they are as a person. To prevent immediate judgments on people we must treat people individually based on how they act.

In the book To kill a Mocking Bird there are several instances of racism such as the constant racism showed by Bob Ewell towards Tom Robinson. The Characters in the book often use derogatory names and foul language to describe black people in the book that was common for that time in the 1930's. Even though now we dont act the same way towards African Americans as we did back then we still face constant problems of racism such as in the black lives matter riots. I think that we should try to face the opposite race about it and try t make peace.

I believe some racism still runs throughout America. In "To Kill A Mocking Bird", Atticus Finch defends the case of Tom Robinson. Though it seemed as if he was proven innocent according to the facts during the trial, Tom was proven guilty mainly because of his race. The Black Lives Matter movement is an example of racism occurring in our country right now. I believe this movement should be stopped because all American citizens are gifted with equal rights, but this movement is creating political unrest between the two races. I think it should be looked upon as All lives matter rather than just one specific race. Policemen are trying to stop this movement to keep the unity of our country together, and as citizens of the U.S., I say we should support the officers in their fight to end racism.
