Describe the character Sherlock Holmes. Yes, he is very observant, but what more can we tell about him so far? Specifically think about things he says. How does he talk to others? How does he treat others? What does he think about his profession? Does he enjoy it or not? Obviously, we have to guess a bit here, but try your best to make good educated guesses using textual evidence.
What about Watson? What kind of person is he? Think about the same questions as above.

Sherlock Holmes has a very interesting way of observing things. So far he has taken in the information and pondered on all the possible outcomes. Watson asks him all the possible questions and places he could be wrong to keep his ideas flowing. Holmes loves his profession so far and is excited about his new case. He treats Watson with respect and views himself as close to equal to Watson. In chapter 3, when Dr. Mortimer tells Holmes about the new case, he asks all the possible questions that could lead him to a broad conclusion about the case.Holmes also seems to be very wise and has lots of experience as a detective. Watson seems to be the opposite of Holmes in that he observes things very differently. Watson seems like he is unsure how Holmes comes up with all the crazy ideas that could be true about this case, but he is amazed at how great Holmes is at observing situations. He seems to be genuinely impressed with Holmes' work and aims to adopt the extraordinary skills that Holmes has. He does not ponder things as much as Holmes and seems to think about the more material things instead of peoples emotions. These qualities make for a great team.

Sherlock Holmes is a detective in London with his sidekick Watson. He likes to think of the logical side of things as seen in the Hound of the Baskervilles on pages 29 and 28 when him and Dr. Mortimer are talking about the case. He is very observant in even the smallest details that normal people wouldn’t even pay attention to. He is very good at making predictions on what happened and is a very skilled and notorious detective. He is a man who seems crazy and out of control, but he is a lot smarter and more complex than people realize. He communicates and treats other people with respect, and tries not to make many enemies. He doesn’t shove off other people’s opinions even if he thinks they are totally wrong. Instead he tries to find evidence that will help them understand. Holmes loves his job very much and enjoys solving crimes because he is so skilled at his work. However, Sherlock Holmes is a man of many mysteries and there is still so much that we don’t know about him.
Watson in many ways is similar to Sherlock Holmes. He enjoys working with Holmes, and Holmes enjoys working with him. Both of them understand each other and are good at working with each together. Watson is a good observer, but obviously not as good as Holmes. Watson like Holmes is a very intelligent man and he is good at what he does. In the Hound of the Baskervilles Watson agrees with Holmes about looking at the logical side of things opposed to looking at the supernatural side of things. Watson is not as good of a detective as Holmes, but he is still very intelligent and similar to Holmes in many ways.

He is very confident in how he presents himself. You can tell that he is very rarely wrong about things. He notices every little detail about a person. When talking to someone he makes it very important to just listen and ask questions. He also makes it a point to consult Watson to see if he is observing the same as him and teaching Watson, because most of the questions he asks Watson he already knows the answer to. He treats people pretty good considering he listens to every word and you can tell he is very involved in the conversation noting every detail in his mind and exerting lots of confidence in being able to help them with their problems or in this case Dr. Mortimer's problem. He is very good at what he does and I would think enjoys it. He always seems very involved in it and with the exhilaration that comes with solving a mystery, he has definitely found the fun in it. he is also very calm and composed which is the opposite of Watson who is always racking his brain trying to figure things out and answer Holmes questions about the case. Watson is pretty average and you can tell enjoys his profession. He is definitely fascinated with Holmes, and while he does play sort of a side-kick type role plays a huge part in helping with the investigation. Since he is pretty average Watson is a little better with the people, being on their level and trying his best to get a good insight on the case so he can help Holmes.

Sherlock Holmes is kind of socially awkward in a way, he talks o people just fine but in a since he makes other people feel uncomfortable when talking o him like he is the smartest person in the room and very seldom is he around someone of equal knowledge. Its seems as if Sherlock Holmes likes to find a logical reason behind everything, in his mind it seems that everything can always be proven with evidence. This is shown when he and Dr.Mortimer are talking about the hound, and going back and fourth on their thoughts on if the hound is supernatural or if the hound is simply a hound as shown on pg 17. Holmes obviously takes in consideration the Baskerville legend and keeps in mind how every descendant of the Baskerville name has died at Baskerville hall. Overall Holmes is a person who puts everything in to deep thought and he will not rest until the unknown has an answer, but I believe that Holmes has a little bit of curiosity and somewhere in his thoughts is unsure on how to attack the case. Watson is a loyal sidekick to Holmes this is proven through the first couple chapters it seems that Watson is a more anxious side kick that always has input on Holme's cases. In the last couple chapters he is kind of unsure on the case of the hound,a case were Sir. Charles Baskerville was murdered but no one knows why. Watson doesn't really know what to think, but he seems like the person that would stand for his colleagues opinion rather than someone else's so I believe that he will eventually agree with holmes.

Sherlock Holmes is a very gifted man, he does not look at the obvious things in life, instead he focuses on the smaller details that might be hidden to most people. We don't know for sure if he enjoys his job, or not, but as good as he is at it, I would hope he does enjoy it. He is not the best at talking to people. He is a little rude at times and will try to imply something without directly saying it. He is very good at picking up on people's emotions and using it to get the truth. I think people view him as a slightly crazy mastermind, when actually he is just paying far more attention than most people
Watson is a very valuable part of the duo. He makes up for most of Sherlock's lack of social skills and he provides a good amount of input into their investigations. I think Watson looks up to Sherlock, and tries to pick up on some of his detective skills as they work the cases. Watson focuses more on physical evidence than Sherlock and therefore the work very well with each other and pick up on whatever the other one missed.

Holmes uses very obscure methods to solve mysteries. He looks at every intricate detail and puts them all together to solve the case. He interrogates the person he is interviewing by asking multiple questions and eventually makes them question and doubt their own beliefs (pg. 29 is an example of the questioning). The way he talks to people is very calm and patient. He lets the person say what he has to and after continues with his questioning. He treats them with the utmost respect even though he does not always have the same view point as them. He likes the detective work, but sometimes finds it stressful due to all the different things happening within the case (bottom of pg. 34). But he always has Watson by his side to help him out. Watson is Holmes’ right hand man. He is always there to help Holmes whenever it seems fit. He also assists him during the interrogations by listening and stating his mind to help Holmes get a better understanding of the case. These two companions work very well together and bring out the best in each other to help solve the mystery in the best way possible.

We can tell that Sherlock Holmes is skeptical about the killer being "supernatural." Sherlock Holmes really doesn't say much he mostly just asks the questions, and by doing that he is able to learn clues about the mystery. In his questions you can tell that he is very skeptical at the beginning of chapter 3 he wonders if a sheep dog could have done this. Holmes never has jumped to conclusions he finds every piece of evidence that he can possibly find just by asking questions. He treats everybody the same he always will ask them questions and never make friends with them or be biased toward the case. During the fist part of the investigation it seems that he likes his job. He obviously likes his profession because it seems as if he likes helping people.
Dr. Watson is also very observant, and he does believe that is supernatural because he thinks that the footprints they found are the footprints of a diabolic hound. I think Dr. Watson likes helping Holmes but unlike Holmes he does make friends an d is somewhat biased towards the case where as Holmes is neutral. He seems to enjoy helping Holmes and helping peoples life.

Yes Sherlock Holmes is observant, but what's impressive is that he never looks at the big picture. He always goes one step at a time and goes into great detail with all of the clues. He takes his time and thinks about every last little thing to see if it could be a hint and to make sure he doesn't miss anything. When he talks to anyone about a case, he's asking all sorts of questions so he can get a better picture of what the surroundings are, what the crime scene looks like, and where the scene is located. Maybe the weather had something to do with it? If it did Sherlock would figure it out. Going off of the fact that Sir Arthur Conan Doyle wrote countless stories about Sherlock, and he continued to do so, I assume that Sherlock did enjoy doing what he did. Watson kind of just listens to all the conversations a tries to suck everything in and piece all the clues together.

Yes, Mr.Holmes is very observant but if he did not talk through it i do not think he would be as great of a detective as he already is. Through out the book, anything he sees he is telling Mr.Watson or Dr.Mortimer. He is a very clever man that likes to pick at other peoples minds to figure out what they are thinking. Mr.Holmes likes to think of himself above others, as he is superior to them, (pg.10). In the dialogue of the book, you can tell that he talks down to Dr.Watson as he is a student, not a "sidekick". He is obviously very good at what he does. He is very intelligent and takes his work very seriously. He adores what he does, i think. If he did not enjoy what he does why would he put so much time and thought into what he does. He is a smart enough man to realize, do what you what you want to do, not what others say you should do.
Mr. Watson is a sidekick for a reason. Yes, he is a great detective, but he does not even compare to Mr. Holmes,(pg.4). I think he knows that Mr. Holmes is the boss and looks up to him as a detective, (pg. 2). He talks to others in a respectful manner as he is more humble than Mr. Holmes. He does enjoy his profession just as Sherlock does, otherwise he would not be a know detective as he is.

Sherlock Holmes really sticks out from the rest of the characters from the book so far. As we all know Sherlock Holmes is highly intelligent and thinks somewhat on his toes. He even gets exited when he starts to unweave his clues to create a scene. Sherlock Holmes if often seen smoking a cigar when he is thinking of what a clue means. the cigar lets his thoughts drift and mellow out. he even was in a box one time while smoking to see if he could figure out more info. He is also not very considerate of peoples emotions most of the time. when you see him talking to Dr. Mortimer, he is swift and cuts to the chase. he doesn't allow his emotions to get into his affairs thus allowing him to think clearly. i think Sherlock loves his profession due to the fact that he really gets into the cases he is working on. he might start to slow down in his profession due to the amount of cases he has been doing. As for Watson, he is smart, but is not up to pace with is colleague. Watson goes on logical clues and talk with Holmes about it. Holmes often has to correct Watson about his theory, Holmes lets Watson know he is close to what he is looking for. Watson has care for other peoples emotions and what they think about the case. they both believe that there is logical sense in the case of Sir Charles Baskervilles even though Dr. Mortimer has told the about the curse that flows throughout the family.

Sherlock Holmes is a very intelligent, bright person, He isn't like everyone else when solving crime. He is very good at observing crime scenes and finding even the smallest clues to help him solve the case. ( Pg. 6 for example) Watson is somewhat similar to Holmes, he isn't as observant as Holmes is but is able to spot clues, and while Holmes is saying clues to him he's kind of the one that puts the case all together. Holmes talks to others like no one else, he's able to basically look at you for a few mins and able to tell you almost everything about you, he doesn't really think much of other people sometimes he does, sometimes he doesn't ( doesn't completely show what i mean, Pg.2) . He usually just needs the information that you know about the crime and he's done with you. Where Watson treats you kindly and wants to know more than just details of the crime like how it happened, exactly where, and when specifically Holmes is like that but not all the time. I kinda of believe that Holmes likes his job because that's all he's done for a job basically is solve crimes and he's gotten so good at it now that if he got fired or quit doing this then he wouldn't really be much use anywhere else. Watson i also believe likes his job because even though Holmes might get on his nerves he likes being his partner in crime, i think he likes being able to help people solve crimes and help find out what happened to a family member or a friend. I think that even though Holmes might be more of a "Lone Wolf" (if you will) I think at times he likes having Watson around helping him solve cases, cause even if he doesn't know it he helps a lot more than Holmes may think.

Sherlock Holmes is a character who is independent, though enjoys the help and company of his friend, Watson. He is very professional at what he does, and I believe that he enjoys being a detective. If he didn't enjoy his profession, then he would not take it as seriously as we see him do in the book. Watson is Sherlock's friend and side-kick. He, I believe, looks up to Sherlock and tries to use his techniques so that he can be a great detective like Sherlock. He isn't as independent as Sherlock, but is still knows how to be an observant detective. Sherlock also wants Watson to be successful. On page 4, Sherlock says to Watson, "Do none suggest themselves? You know my methods. Apply them!"

Sherlock Holmes seams to love what he does just by the way he goes about his cases. The time and thought that he puts in is what makes me think that he loves what he does. One of the things that makes him such a great detective is the fact that he really takes the time to listen to his clients and look at every scenario. An example of this is pg. (13-17) and he talks and questions people in such a way that he can get the most information out of them as possible. But he doesn’t seem to ever really even more than raze his voice, which is amazing so he has to have very good people skills. As far as Watson he is a good people person. He helps Sherlock in many ways such as, bringing him tobacco or helping him work though a problem. An example of this is pg. (37-39) He seems to love what he does from what we have read. They both are skilled detectives and have never had a cold case.

Sherlock Holmes is very intelligent in the way he speaks and treats others. He is respectful of others, isn't rude, judgmental, or inconsiderate; in fact he is always willing to listen to others point of view. Although he doesn't compliment others work very often he is unbiased in his work. when coming across someone new or another clue he observes things very quickly, quicker than the reader can comprehend or think about it themselves. Sherlock is willing to work with whoever he has to, for the people affected and to solve the case. Considering how many stories are written about Sherlock,I'm more than sure he enjoys what he does. It seems as though Sherlock finds what he does easy though i know it's still difficult and dangerous Watson is observant but not as much as Holmes, or as quick. He is very respectful though, always letting others speak first and being patient with everyone around him. Watson doesn't seem as grounded as Sherlock, although on page 30, Dr. Mortimer brought up the idea of the creature being supernatural, i think Watson believes it supernatural more than Sherlock does. Watson has a great respect for Holmes and never questions Sherlock except for an occasional 'how so?' or 'what have i overlooked?' as shown in the first chapter. He doesn't speak that often and usually isn't observing as much as Sherlock but still is very helpful in finding information for the cases. I do believe Watson enjoys it as much Sherlock although isn't as intrigued as Sherlock i believe he will always be a detective
